The creative mind is an open space; it has no boundaries unless we allow our mind to create them.
-KT Cat Paws
I sometimes think my cat muse needs a little duct tape to keep her quiet…for a while.
The Muses are a personification of inspiration. Some believe the muses are like the traditional 9 Greek Muses who bring inspiration and insight to those who need it.
Others find their muse reflective in someone they know or respect. We may find that one person or ideal that seems to always follow on the heels of insight.
In this case we find our Muse in what we need her to be.
My muse seems to be a cat that is constantly meowing with an over abundance of inspiration. A cat that eats breathes and oversleeps in the dreamy state of metaphors, cat wisdom and humor.
Trust me, I do know how this sounds, so I will be careful to stay clear of that find line between being creative and crazy.
My muse is the essence of KT Cat Paws, my pen name. She is a reflection of myself; in my ultimate creative form.
She is sassy, funny, intuitive, plus a little scattered at times.
She loves to paw me at 3am with bouts of inspiration. This is the reason you find KT Musing on Facebook at that time.
She also loves to think outside the cat “litter” box too.
She is the creative voice in my head, the inspiration that keeps my words flowing and quotes quoting.
Sometimes I wish she would learn editing, it would make things much easier.
My muse is like an over active cat who bats around awesome idea’s around then dropped them in the water dish watching attentively as they float to the bottom. She continues to paw at the water to play with it. Great, another idea lost at the bottom of the bowl.
My over-excited cat muse has found the laser pointer of ideas too. I can never seem to catch half of them and when I do I can’t really put my paw on it.
She also wiggles her whiskers and head bump me to get my intuitive senses working.
I do love when these intuitive nudges allow me to step into the present moment. In that window of space I realize that inspiration comes from everywhere and nowhere at the same time.
This is when I find gratitude and joy towards my creative muse.
I would never want to get rid of my muse, or quiet her for too long because she is an essence of who I am and I truly appreciate the gifts that she continues to give to me. Still, there are times when I wish she was quiet and for that I think I should duct tape her mouth for a bit. ( Loosely of course)
I got 7 good reasons….
- Plain and simple; silence. Sometimes creativity comes from a place of quiet spaciousness.
- If she can’t speak, when she finally does, she will have to choose her words wisely and deliver her inspiration with forethought and clarity.
- This quiet time may give time to really appreciate her sassy creative ways.
- There is balance one must find in the creative mind. We need to ‘turn it off’ at times to be able to be present in other areas of our life.
- There are times when we need to not listen, hear or think. Instead just feel with our open heart.
- Quieting her down means allowing her to let go a bit. This can open up our intuitive process to find creativity in another place; within.
- Perhaps she is blocking the voice of another muse. If we quiet her down we may be to hear the inspiration of others.
Maybe I will take the duct tape off my cat muse; she did help me write this and for that I am appreciative. I suppose we could just use a cat duct-tape trap. I heard they work.

I still think she needs to find some much needed Zen.
Peace, Hugs, & Purrs,
KT Cat Paws…and her duct-taped muse.
