“In every person we meet, we can see our reflection looking back; waiting to be understood”
-KT Cat Paws
There is a reason the word Namaste’ is so popular. The word loosely translated means…
“The Divine within me honors and respects the Divine within you.”
It teaches us to see the divine in others, as we see it in ourselves. We are divinity; we are all part of the great cosmos and if you consider what we are made from, this all makes sense.
We are all born of the same DNA that creates a tree, a bird, a banana, a dinosaur and even the stars! Yes, we are stardust and there is only a slight modification between species. We are about 35% identical to a fruit fly. Makes you humble as you bond with a swarm of your ancestor flies over the rights to that banana.
We as a whole are part of the great tree of life. Even if you cut off a branch, it doesn’t change the fact that it is still a tree…a big one! We even have similar DNA as the cat. For those super cat lovers, we like this idea.
No matter how you look at the tree, or the cat sitting in it, we are part of the whole.
As for humans, we are an interesting species. We have similar traits and ways of doing things, despite our perceived individuality. We are creatures of habit, just like the cat. Sometimes we ignore our similarities and instead choose to focus entirely upon our differences. We see those differences as projections of behavior put upon us. We fail to realize our own reflection, the Divine within us or within them. That is when separation occurs, and we become us vs. them.
Do fears keep us from seeing our likeness? Maybe it is our own truth that we choose not to see.
As Marianne Williamson says…
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us…”
When we open to human connection we can see so many things in other people; Love, hate, fear, growth and even the unfortunate dissolution of Spirit. We also see in them our own strengths, weaknesses and prejudices reflecting back at us.
“We ARE who we love, cherish and dislike.”
So when you meet someone and notice the divinity within them, accept them for who they are…part of the whole, part of the branch of that tree. If you can’t ask this…..
- Are you really judging that person or yourself?
- When you feel comfortable with a person or like them, you like a quality in them that is in you. You relate to it, accept it, even if it is subconscious.
- Ask yourself. Do I dislike the action or the behavior of another person or is it what they represent? Is it the view the person holds or the person who holds it?
- When you have a negative reaction to a person, cat, dog, animal etc. ask yourself. “Is that me?”
- Be humble but realistic. We judge ourselves the hardest. Be kind to yourself.
- Ponder this perspective. The T-Rex has the same DNA as a chicken.
You are part of Divine Essence and I honor that within you.
Be Zen.
Namaste’
“I honor the place in you where Spirit lives
I honor the place in you which is
of Love, of Truth, of Light, of Peace,
when you are in that place in you,
and I am in that place in me,
then we are One.”
