Black Cat Countdown-Day 12
Josi, the black cat
I have always had a fascination with the black cat. I think it goes along with my fascination with the lore of Halloween too. To me black cats are “different”, unique and shrouded in mystery of course.
I had a wonderful black cat named Josi. She came to me as a kitten and for a little while, I can honestly say she intimidated me. Yes, it is so.
I would be cuddled in my bed at night and open my eyes to find this kitten tucked in my blanket nose to my nose starting right through me. (I think she did it on purpose) All I saw was these black marble like eyes. It was eerie and strange and I never understand why she did it.
She made me wonder what else was starting at me from the dark corners of the room. hehe
I fell in love with that beautiful kitten.
She was spacious, she looked around like life was a big cat box ready to be played in. And that is what she did. She was always on the go, always exploring. Josi’s beauty was from the inside out too. She was sweet, loving, good mannered and very intuitive. She just ‘knew’ what I needed.
When I picked her up she would wrap her tail around my arm and pull her body in tight. I also called her my squeaky cause she would meow in a squeak. She never growled or hissed at me. She loved the red pointer when she was inside and when she was outside she loved to roll around in the sand. Then she would come in and roll that sand around in my carpet. Good times.
One thing I will say is that Josi was my lucky girl and if any cat had 9 lives it was her.
I am so blessed to have had the chance to be in her life and I am forever grateful of her black cat ways.
Josi went OTRB back 2010.
I knew she was “leaving” cause her expression told me. She knew it was time and I knew too. It was interesting cause it still feels like she is here keeping a watchful eye from the shadows of the room.
Not to worry, Josi lived a very long 16 year life and was loved very much.
This Black Cat Countdown is for her and for all her other black cat pals out there. They are in a pawsome league of their own.
And I am happy to have been a part of it.
This is my way to honor her in a meaningful way. So lets celebrate 13 black cats til Halloween the way Josi would. As a big cat box party!
