A silly poem about a zen cat

A silly poem about a zen cat named Mr. Bailey

By me, Miss Mattie ( his sister)

Mr Bailey is supposedly a wise Zen cat,

He thinks he is a big bag of cat nip and all that.

He teaches me Zen lessons, inner purr and play,

Then sometimes he will tell me to present; just sit still and stay.

He sits on top of his cushion meditating with his mala beads in tow,

And just for fun I will paw pop him. All for love, you know.

His eyes are half closed as he sits in contemplation of life for days,

Maybe if I sat on him, he would have a better understanding of the true Zen ways.

Mr. Bailey is a smart, sweet, compassionate and a wise Zen cat,

Don’t tell him, but it’s kinda cool, and I am all down with that.

 The only cat who can laugh or pick on Mr. Bailey is his sister, me…

If you do, I will ninja bunny kick you so fast you won’t even see.  

Mr. Bailey’s lessons is to be mindful and embrace your inner purr with an open mind,

In translation; have fun, be inquisitive, be present and always be kind.

If you still don’t get the message and all these Zen lessons fails,

Do what I do- Just meow, laugh, shake your cat butt, and wiggle your tail.

Zen is not found in your ears, on your paw or something you chase on the hardwood floor,

Instead, Zen is found in your open heart, when shared can bring so much more.

If you still can’t find Zen, maybe you can look silly with a bag or curtain on your head.
